ERIK ROBINSON, PHD

CEO, Co-Founder

Erik received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University in 2012.  Erik is the inventor of the Sintact Barrier Technology and holds several patents associated with the technology. He was a participant of the NUVention Medical course from the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship in addition to gaining a certificate from the Kellogg School of Management.  He is a certified Leadership Coach which he received from the Center for Leadership at Northwestern University.

​Harry brings 30 years of experience to Sintact Medical developing, launching and selling medical technologies for Johnson and Johnson, Sanofi, and Medtronic. His experience spans product development, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. He began his career in sales, sales management and marketing management at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, a Johnson and Johnson company. At Sanofi's diagnostic division, he was one of three executives recruited into a "start-up venture" that conceptualized, developed, and commercialized the Access Immunoassay System business which generated $100 million in its first four years, and was acquired by Beckman Coulter. Harry joined Medtronic as Senior Director in product development and operations in its Cardiac Rhythm Management division, and later served as Vice President of Marketing at a Medtronic unit in Redmond, Washington.  In 2008, Harry helped launch Rapid Diagnostek, Inc. and served as Chief Executive Officer 2008-2015. Rapid Diagnostek, Inc. was acquired by Qorvo (QRVO:NASDQ) a $2.2B semiconductor company.

JAMES  REYNOLDS

Jim brings over 30 years of industry experience in medical device, pharmaceutical and pharmacy to Sintact Medical.  Jim held multiple positions of authority in manufacturing operations, logistics, regulatory compliance, auditing, safety and consulting for companies such as Boston Scientific, Baxter Healthcare, Cobe Laboratories and EXP Pharmaceuticals. His experience spans operations through quality compliance. He began his early career in electronics manufacturing developing semiconductor/LEDs, data storage discs and earth-to-space satellite technologies. At Baxter’s divestiture business Deen, he was Vice President of Operations as the executive recruited to develop the business of pre-filled syringes for parenteral injection. Prior to Deen, he was the Director of Operations for Baxter Healthcare’s Compass business, managing all aspects of the compounding pharmacy including, and was responsible for achieving an increase in annual revenue from $5 million to $50 million. Prior to this Baxter role, he was the Director of Logistics & Operations at Baxter Healthcare’s Novacor business, managing all aspects of the facility manufacturing Baxter’s Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) while reporting directly to the president. In this role, Jim also established field service and distribution in Holland for the LVAD product.  At EXP Pharmaceuticals, Jim managed Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Services, leading audits and inspections by regulatory authorities such as FDA, DEA, DTSC and the CA Board of Pharmacy. At Boston Scientific, Jim’s experience was sought as a consultant in five different areas between 2006 and 2014, including product recalls, redesign of distribution centers, internal auditing, post-acquisition integration, material control, process validation and remediation of Quality Systems. 

GALI BALER, PHD

Gali brings 10+ years of experience at the intersection of scientific R&D, startup investments, and healthcare through his roles at Sintact, University of Colorado, and Northwestern. In his current role as the Director of Investments with the University of Colorado, he engages in new venture development of high potential university affiliated technologies and spin-outs such as Triple Endoscopy Inc., AdMIRx, and Eleven P15. He is also the program director for SPARK Colorado, a translational development program for medical devices, diagnostics, and therapeutic technologies at the Anschutz Medical Campus. He also performs due diligence analysis for the University of Colorado and Rockies Venture Club as the Assistant Director for Venture Capital Analytics. Gali received a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University in 2014. He was a participant of the NUVention Medical course from the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship in addition to gaining a certificate from the Kellogg School of Management.
